So, how do you go about letting your unique personality shine through during a job interview? How can you showcase the real you? You want to be authentic, without going overboard. You want to give the employer a little insight into who you are and why you are on your current career path.

First, instead of just listing out your past accomplishments and positions held, maybe tell the interviewer a little bit about what excites you about the job. Let the interviewer know what led you to their company. Talk about what interests you most about the job and give an idea of the future you envision. You can talk about aspects of your past jobs, and the current job for which you are interviewing, but do so in a manner that will naturally elicit a smile or show your true enthusiasm.

Next, be specific in your answers. Don’t generalize as it can often come across as unprepared or ingenuine. Let your interviewer know exactly why this opportunity interests you, what you hope to achieve and the impact you want to have on others.

Finally, while it’s important to state your past accomplishments, you don’t want to over-exaggerate. Be authentic. Be real. Don’t under value your contributions either. Focus on how your past accomplishments make you an ideal candidate for not only the existing position, but for the future of the company as well.
